what a weird picture, looks like i've got no mouth. certainly it's a "gurn", that's for sure, but it's the only pic there was from the fbi party on sunday night at bondi pavillion. a fine way to end a fine year - djing on bondi beach!

had a great 'fat planet' show on sunday afternoon - a best of 2003 round-the-world round up, taking in 38 countries in 180 minutes (one track from each country) and playing them in geographical order. finished off with an interview with luke vibert (which tenuously brought us back to australia in the round the world stakes as he's playing here with aphex in about 3 weeks). playlist is online here.

merry xmas one and all! hope santa was good / satan was evil to you (delete as applicable). had my first 'xmas on the beach experience' - here's the view from coogee on xmas morning :::

as a special gift for xmas (aww, shucks), i've updated the mp3 links page so y'all can download audio from the likes of ANTICON, ELECTROCUTE, HEAT SENSOR, KING SEVEN vs LFO, KRAFTWERK, LUKA BOP, MARUMARI, RADIOBOY and ANGIE REED.

happy holidays :-)

so saddam gets captured and i play my first track from iraq on the radio. coincidence? absolutely entirely. [sunday's fat planet playlist now online].

interviewed LUKE VIBERT last week [for broadcast on sunday 28th december, people!]. lovely bloke, even with the strange garbled telecommunications equipment and the fact that he was 11 hours behind me. really weird.

another weird thing is the fact that it's nearly xmas and it's bloody hot in sydney. can't quite get to grips with it. should be cold / snowy and we should be thinking about roast dinners, not having a xmas barbeque... still, surely musn't f'ing grumble :-)

new tunes getting my ears in a tizz this week include BLACK DICE 'endless happiness' remixed by eye from THE BOREDOMS; DFA remix of the new UNKLE single; RILO KILEY the execution of all things; JAHCOOZI fish; COBRA KILLER heavy rotation; plus new albums from THE MAGNIFICENTS (cheers colvin!) andTHE MITGANG AUDIO - and another tune which just won't quit is KELIS' milkshake ... goddam that's one catchy muthafucking song. sweeeeeet!

had the opening of the sculpturetainment exhbition last night at the knot gallery in surry hills, which features robyn's piece entitled 'cluckers' (above). t'was a great turn out making for good company and a damn fine opening all in all. more photos here.

had the launch of the sydney festival bar last night, of which fbi is a supporter. then went onto the wonderful underground RSL known as the nippon club, where i discovered a new delicacy - deep fried rocket. somebody somewhere really needs to sort something out for vegetarians... and fast. some photos from last night added here.

also uploaded some long overdue pics from the honeymoon, with some more to come soon.

finally, the wedding photos are now online - click here for the online album // for all those keen enough to trawl throughthe pics, your diligence will be paid off with the added bonus (?) of seeing a few men in skirts.

robyn is this week featured in a new exhibition, SCULPTURETAINMENT, at the knot gallery, 107/342 elizabeth street, surry hills, sydney. the exhibition is described by organisers as "sculptural pieces with an intrinsic entertainment value and bits that buzz, whir & go bump in the night". the exhibition opens on wednesday (3rd) and runs until next tuesday (9th). photos on here soon, hopefully along with an explanation about why she has stuffed surgical gloves with cotton wool and recorded an hour's worth of chicken's going 'cluck'.

been an exhausting weekend - got on the decks with boffa for a fully sick lunchtime "mix" live on fbi (or rather he mixed, i turned the turntables off). it was a 'versus' set, one on, one off - i pulled out pigbag, the timelords, sparks, jimi tenor and (yes madam) mr jack random - getting his first ever airplay - crooning 'in the ghetto'. a legend is re-born :-)

had an fbi benefit night on friday at sydney's mandarin club featuring some great aussie hip-hop / post-rock / etc. special mention to entropic for managing to fall somewhere between post-rock, krautrock, jazz and funk - great stuff.

saturday night i tried my hand at dj-ing again (it's been such a long time) at a party for the sydney esquisse [public art festival]. a good night which mainly served to remind me of my limitations - and reminded me why i don't dj more often ("excuse me mr dj, got any spanish stuff, you know latin? this music is a little technical").

sunday - fat planet on the radio, was supposed to be a sunny day so i played a few tunes from soul jazz's new 600% dynamite jamaican reggae collection - only for the clouds to gather and for reggae to be the soundtrack for a sunday that never was... just goes to show that even in sunny australia, we can sometimes only manage a paltry 24 degrees in december - pah!
