{"id":984,"date":"2005-04-03T10:26:26","date_gmt":"2005-04-02T23:26:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artsdigital.net\/fatplanet\/?p=984"},"modified":"2021-01-31T05:12:50","modified_gmt":"2021-01-31T05:12:50","slug":"tetine-mugison-moe-lodin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stuartbuchanan.com\/archives\/2005\/04\/03\/tetine-mugison-moe-lodin\/","title":{"rendered":"TETINE, MUGISON, MOE LODIN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TETINE\u00a0<\/strong>[BRAZIL]<br \/>\n<strong>eu sou tigrao<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tetine.net\/mp3\/mp3\/eusoutigrao.mp3\">mp3<\/a><br \/>\nearlier today i was reading simon reynolds\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blissout.blogspot.com\/2005_03_01_blissout_archive.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">critique of m.i.a.<\/a>, and followed an interesting discussion on a track called &#8216;inje\u00e7\u00e3o&#8217; by\u00a0<strong>deise tigrona<\/strong>. the track has been around for quite a while but some folks out there believe that it has been &#8216;borrowed&#8217; wholesale by\u00a0<strong>m.i.a.<\/strong>\u00a0for her track &#8216;bucky done gun&#8217;. you can decide for yourself as it features on a compilation album entitled &#8216;slam dunk presents funk corioca&#8217; [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrbongo.com\/Background.179.0.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">buy<\/a>]. slam dunk is a radio show (broadcast on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.resonancefm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">resonancefm.com<\/a>) hosted by two brazilians (originally from sao paolo), bruno verner &amp; eliete mejorado. happily for us, they also make sweet music together under the name\u00a0<strong>tetine<\/strong>. and its not just music either, there&#8217;s a whole make-up bag of performance art thrown in, including their tribute to playwright bertold brecht &#8220;eletrobrecht&#8221; and their personal tribute to their influences &#8220;m\u00fasica de amor&#8221; featuring covers of\u00a0<strong>stereolab<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>lionel ritchie<\/strong>. the above track from the duo is straight-up, filthy electro rock + booty bass &#8211; a million km away from traditional braziliana. [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tetine.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">site<\/a>] you can find a great deal more on tetine, including four more free mp3s, at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizarremusic.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bizarremusic.com.br<\/a>.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nMUGISON\u00a0<\/strong>[ICELAND]<strong><br \/>\nsad as a truck\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smekkleysa.net\/audio\/full\/Mugison%20-%20Sad%20as%20a%20truck.mp3\">mp3<\/a><strong><br \/>\nsea y (original version)\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smekkleysa.net\/audio\/full\/Mugison%20-%20CY.mp3\">mp3<\/a><strong><br \/>\nsea y (arto lindsay &amp; melvin gibbs rmx)\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.icelandairwaves.com\/files\/02_art_linslay.mp3\">mp3<\/a><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>iceland&#8217;s mugison is a wonderful contradiction of styles &#8211; from his abstract soundtrack album&#8217; niceland&#8217;, to the downtempo folktronica of his excellent debut &#8216;lonely mountain&#8217; (released through matthew herbert&#8217;s lifelike label) and finally to the beat-heavy, fuzzrock mp3 &#8216;sad as a truck&#8217; from his second album &#8216;mugimama is this onkey music?&#8217; (sounds like something beck should be making if you drew a more leftfield graph from &#8216;loser&#8217;). and then there&#8217;s the small matter of drafting the outstanding arto lindsay in to remix one of this track, in collaboration too with melvin gibbs, ex-rollins band. audacious and gloriously eclectic, sample mugison&#8217;s entire output at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mugison.com\/stuff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mugison.com<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>MOE LODIN\u00a0<\/strong>[SWEDEN]<br \/>\n<strong>hello snow<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.racewillbegin.com\/rwb012\/rwb012_a1_moe_lodin-hello_snow.mp3\">mp3<\/a><br \/>\nbeautiful downtempo vocal electronica from\u00a0<strong>moe lodin<\/strong>, courtesy of those tasteful people at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.racewillbegin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">race will begin<\/a>. i can find little information on moe, scratch that, i can find NO information on moe. here&#8217;s what i can tell you: (1) he&#8217;s released 3 e.p.s., all of which can be downloaded from his\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pink-lagoon.com\/index.html\">website<\/a>.
