\nmore from germany? yes, sir. berin’s kitty-yo label has been sending packets of goodness into the world since 1994, building a hugely impressive roster over the last 12 years. peaches<\/strong>, tarwater<\/strong>, gonzales<\/strong>, louie austen<\/strong>, jimi tenor<\/strong>, maximillian hecker<\/strong> – the list goes on. some of the most impressive and essential releases are their compilations – 2002’s ‘ky 2.02’ was glued to my ears for months after release and 2004’s ‘team kitty-yo’ was similarly met with great affection, sprawled over two packed CDs.
\nthis month, it’s the turn of the offcuts – a new compilation called ‘cuts and pieces’, pulling together a stack of disparate 12″ releases and bundling them for our pleasure. the album features new or rare mixes of current kitty-yo players such as rhythm king and her friends<\/strong>, denmark’s raz ohara<\/strong>, sex in dallas<\/strong>, the wonderful ed laliq<\/strong>, gold chains & sue cie<\/strong>, and a new kitty-yo artist (whose track kicks most of the others out of the park) man like me<\/strong>.
\nthe stand out tracks however are the two from jahcoozi <\/strong>– ‘jah c\/dc’ (mp3 above) and the ‘black barbie’ remix from duo modeselektor<\/strong>, who (by an obvious quirk of journalistic fate) are signed to ellen allien<\/strong>‘s bpitch control label – as featured in the previous post<\/a>. modeselektor<\/strong> ride into sydney soon – more info here<\/a>.
\nalso on the album, codec and flexor<\/strong>, whose debut album ‘killermachine’ is the most recent artist release from the label. next up in ’06, releases from ed laliq<\/strong> and no north<\/strong>. kitty-yo are certainly planning world domination, who are we stand in their way?<\/p>\n
