In this episode of Repercussions<\/em>,\u00a0we rewind back a quarter of a century to 1989, to a time that is known as \u2018the second summer of love\u2019.\u00a0 The first summer of love was back in 1967, when thousands of people migrated to San Francisco for a wild psychedelic ride fuelled by sex, drugs, politics and rock and roll.\u00a0 The second summer swapped the rock and roll for rave; and the rise of house and techno reached\u00a0a tipping point, summoning\u00a0hedonistic love and public condemnation in equal measures. \u00a0Acid House was a key part of the soundtrack, and\u00a0we kick off with a couple of key acid tracks from Farley Jackmaster Funk<\/strong> and Virgo Four<\/strong>, before moving through the birth of Warp Records <\/strong>with Forgemasters <\/strong>and Nightmares On Wax<\/strong>, picking up\u00a0artists such as 808 State, The Beloved, New Order, Renegade Soundwave\u00a0<\/strong>and The KLF<\/strong>, and rounding off with some free-love inspired hip hop from De La Soul<\/strong> and Neneh Cherry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
