This is The First Letter<\/strong>\u00a0from Provenance<\/b>. Auspicious moment, for us anyway; maybe one day you\u2019ll feel the same way. When in thirty years, you have a synaesthesic shock from sniffing an old iPhone, maybe this missive will be part of that sense memory. We Live. We Hope.<\/p>\n

This, The First Letter, is also designed to say \u2018hello\u2019 and tell you that we have started to release records. The \u2018records\u2019 bit of the web site address may have inadvertently preempted that news. All things considered, we prefer that you refer to us using the simple sound of \u2018Provenance\u2019. The \u201crecords\u201d bit is just a signpost, a key indicator, a smartphone glow in the darkness.<\/p>\n

The First Record<\/a> is an actual record. A vinyl plaything, melted with sounds birthed 17,000 kms away from the pressing plant. The First Record is by Medicine Voice<\/b> and it\u2019s the primal scream, the sturm und drang, the epiphany and epicentre of a transformation. It\u2019s a blast. Literally.<\/p>\n

For The Record, on The First Record, Sar Freidman<\/b> was entirely in control. Oren Ambarchi<\/b> played guitar and drums. Joe Talia<\/b> played a different guitar and different drums. James Rushford<\/b> was on viola. Jessica Chapnik Khan<\/b> took pictures. Lucy Pierce<\/b> rendered Sar in pencil. Lasse Marhaug<\/b> laid everything out.<\/p>\n

You can buy The First Record, helpfully codified as PR001 (where the R may or may not stand for \u2018records\u2019) and anointed as \u2018I And Thou<\/i>\u2019, direct from our\u00a0store<\/a>, in either the afore-cited vinyl or in 1s and 0s, or both, or neither.<\/p>\n

Those very nice people at 4ZZZ<\/b> in Brisbane described it as \u201ca welcome opportunity for a journey of one\u2019s own<\/a>\u201d. We concur with this sentiment. It is both a welcome and an opportunity. It\u2019s also an offering and an invitation, but they didn\u2019t say that. They did however casually drop names, which we shall put in bold, like Swans<\/b>, Moon Duo<\/b>, Sunn O)))<\/b>, Vangelis<\/b> and Cat Powe<\/b>r. All of these sound very nice and we like them too. Thank you Zs.<\/p>\n

Happy<\/b>, a web site with three silent \u2018H\u2019s, asked Medicine Voice some very interesting questions and got some very interesting answers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You can watch The First Record<\/a>, or at least a visual representation of one sixth of the item, on YouTube<\/a>. This representation features contributions from Talulah Sistar<\/b> and Indigo Wolf <\/b>and it falls on top of itself, again and again and again.<\/p>\n
