\nafter loving a preview mp3 on the excellent ready rock moe rex<\/a> a couple of months back, and then promptly forgetting all about it – my memory was jogged this week when the debut album from tolcha<\/strong> landed on the fat planet desk. released through band member’s shir khan<\/strong>‘s label ‘meta polyp<\/a>‘, the album features a list of the credits that almost reads like a ‘who’s who’ of a group of artists i’ve been digging from berlin and austria’s klein label. guesting on the electro, dub and hip hop excursion are sasha from jahcoozi<\/strong>, stereotyp collaborator al haca<\/strong>, nyc’s rqm<\/strong> plus rider shafique<\/strong> from pressure drop and former rockers hifi member, ras t-weed<\/strong>.
\ntolcha cite ‘digi-soul’ and ‘crunchy future tech hip hop’ as reference points – how i love a good made-up genre. their debut 12, released back in 2003, looks like it’s a collector’s gem, featuring a remix from ms john soda<\/strong> as well as a mix from le hammand inferno<\/strong> which apparently drops the ‘seven nation army’ bassline as an accompaniment to the tolcha mc crew.
