{"id":14666,"date":"2005-08-08T20:21:42","date_gmt":"2005-08-08T09:21:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fatplanet.com.au\/blog\/2005\/08\/08\/bootleg-mxs\/"},"modified":"2021-01-31T05:13:23","modified_gmt":"2021-01-31T05:13:23","slug":"bootleg-mxs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stuartbuchanan.com\/archives\/2005\/08\/08\/bootleg-mxs\/","title":{"rendered":"BOOTLEG MXS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" border=\"1\" alt=\"MIA\" id=\"image34\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fatplanet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/01\/mia.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>BOOTLEG MXS &#038; MASHUPS<\/strong><br \/>\n[no.3 in an irregular series]<br \/>\nhere we are again at bootleg HQ, taking a break from your run-of-the-mill    mp3 blogging to focus on commercially unavailable remixes and bastard pop greats.    kudos to these particular editing junkies for taking these tunes to the next    level.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.carrascomusic.com\/music\/Carrasco!-MIA_vs_Amerie-MIAs_Thing.mp3\">carrasco    &#8211; m.i.a.&#8217;s thing<\/a><br \/>\nin which <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.carrascomusic.com\/downloads.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">carrasco<\/a>    drops <strong>m.i.a.<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8216;pull up the people&#8217; over <strong>amerie<\/strong>&#8216;s    &#8216;one thing&#8217; with deliciously tasty results. now being the owner of both <strong>amerie<\/strong>    and <strong>ciara<\/strong> albums, i think that while <strong>ciara<\/strong>&#8216;s    three top tunes win out, overall <strong>amerie<\/strong>&#8216;s album is the winner.    disappointed at the fact that the 2nd half of <strong>ciara<\/strong>&#8216;s full-length    drops into bland ballad territory. and then of course there&#8217;s <strong>m.i.a.<\/strong>    &#8211; who finally appeared on one of australia&#8217;s commercial tv networks this weekend,    with the &#8216;bucky done gun&#8217; clip. maybe the gal is going to crossover after all?<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boojiboyjnr.com\/thugtimesmix4.mp3\">boojiboy &#8211; thug times<\/a><br \/>\nthere&#8217;s a heap of quality boots over on boojiboy&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.boojiboyjnr.com\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">site<\/a>.    this post was a close tie with the excellent mashing of <strong>m.i.a.<\/strong>    with <strong>can<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8216;i want more&#8217;, but i don&#8217;t want to overload on the    whole m.i.a. thing. so instead you get <strong>tweet<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8216;thug man&#8217; mixed    with <strong>the human league<\/strong> &#8211; what a combo &#8211; the league track &#8216;hard    times&#8217; taken from their excellent remix album &#8216;love and dancing&#8217;. the album    was one of the first (certainly in the uk) remix albums back in 1981 and features    dub versions of tracks from &#8216;dare&#8217;, re-rubbed by martin rushnet. i can&#8217;t recommend    it highly enough, particularly for the way it erases the narrative of &#8216;don&#8217;t    you want me&#8217; and re-creates it in dub disco style.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/s19.yousendit.com\/d.aspx?id=2P8KVSBS1VZCY06DGADMGPZ0BE\">dj selektor    &#8211; bionic girl<\/a><br \/>\n<em><font color=\"#666666\">click above link to download from yousendit.com (mp3    available for a limited time)<\/font><\/em><br \/>\nmixing <strong>gwen stefani<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8216;hollerback girl&#8217; with the <strong>south    rakkas crew<\/strong>&#8216;s dancehall booty goodness. of all the (many) gwen boots    that are around at the moment, this for me is the cream of the crop. it almost    made me actually <em>like<\/em> gwen, god knows i was never a fan of <strong>no    doubt<\/strong>, but then i caught her new video clip and it felt like a cold    shower from the pits of hell. urrg.
