\nhere’s a great curio – new york band playing punchy alt.pop-rock with japanese female vocalist. the results are mostly a fantastic crossover from east to west, especially when yuki sings in her native language (like the mp3 above). the single release ‘walk on the moon’ is a little less successful for my tastes, but still bears the hallmarks of some great influences like\u00a0my bloody valentine<\/strong>,\u00a0spiritualized<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0sonic youth<\/strong>. \ncheck the mp3 archive for a previous post from this french band – blending driving electronic post punk with the spoken word vocal made infamous by james murphy of the\u00a0lcd soundsystem<\/strong>[‘losing my edge’ was such a ground-breaking release, that it’s difficult not to make the obvious connection]. however think twice have enough originality to pull them apart, particularly in the lyrical content. this track doesn’t waver much from the template set down by ‘under the bombs’, so the next step could well be make or break.
