The release follows a summer of acclaim for Aphir, having been cited by\u00a0<strong>triple j Unearthed<\/strong>\u00a0as one of\u00a0<em>\u201cthe next generation that\u00a0<\/em><em>are<\/em><em>\u00a0following in\u00a0<strong>Flume<\/strong>\u2018s footsteps\u201d<\/em>, and lauded by\u00a0<strong>Purple Sneakers<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Pilerats<\/strong>\u00a0amongst others.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Thematically, the album embraces the concept of infinite parallel universes, albeit with a different spin from the usual sci-fi trope. Becki says:\u00a0<em>\u201cAs I was writing the album, I was thinking about the quantum physics theory of multiple universes, and the idea that each universe represents a different decision that you made. \u2018Twin Earth\u2019 is my variant of that idea \u2013 what if a new universe was created whenever someone formed a different opinion of you? Each version of \u2018you\u2019 would have its own narrative, based on the how others see you\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">With artistry and expertise far beyond her age, Becki has been releasing music under the Aphir alias since 2013. Over the last three years, she has worked alongside<strong>\u00a0Andrei Eremin<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>Chet Faker<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Hiatus\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Kaiyote<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Miami Horror<\/strong>) and\u00a0<strong>Tim Shiel<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>Spirit Level<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Gotye<\/strong>) and in 2016 was flown to Berlin to perform in the AUUG Motion Synth Showcase at Music Tech Fest.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Becki also collaborates with many other Australian artists, writing with\u00a0<strong>Denni<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>KAIA<\/strong>\u00a0(who will be releasing her debut EP on Provenance in 2017), mixing for\u00a0<strong>Eilish Gilligan<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Anatole<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Xylo Aria<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Squidgenini<\/strong>; and mastering\u00a0<strong>Yon Yonson<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Sandy Hsu<\/strong>, as well as mixtapes for\u00a0<strong>Wondercore Island<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>TEEF Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">California-born and Melbourne-based artist <strong>Goodie<\/strong>provides the original hand-painted artwork for the \u2018Twin Earth\u2019 album cover and has also created additional artwork for three of the album tracks.
