have turned to london&#8217;s ninja tune to lend them a hand with the soundtrack this time around. this stirs a few memories and my mind drifts fondly back to the &#8216;wipeout&#8217; soundtrack &#8211; one of the earliest times i can remember when established and respected electronic artists were commissioned to write music exclusively for the game release. so anyway, an interesting day when a new\u00a0<strong>amon tobin<\/strong>\u00a0track comes courtesy of tom clancy&#8230; it&#8217;s amon at his darkest, full of grandeur and forboding &#8211; everything we&#8217;ve come to expect from the brazilian beat scientist.<br \/>\n<strong>GUSTAVO LAMAS<\/strong>\u00a0[ARGENTINA]<br \/>\n<strong>amenos<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.onitor.de\/oooo\/downloads\/mp3\/lamas_amenos.mp3\">mp3<\/a><br \/>\nfollowing on from the recent post from carlos lebidinsky, here&#8217;s some more argentina electronica &#8211; this time from\u00a0<strong>gustavo lamas<\/strong>, a profilic producer with releases under his belt on kompakt, traum and\u00a0<strong>akufen<\/strong>&#8216;s oral label. although this track, and apparently many of his releases to date, suggests an overall tech-house sound, other mp3s on lamas site indicate more experimental, abstract production\u00a0(click\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gustavolamas.com\/html\/index2.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>\u00a0and check out the two tracks at the top of the page). for more agentinian flavours, check out\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonic360.com\/compilations\/argentina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sonic 360<\/a>&#8216;s &#8216;beatwave argentina&#8217; collection &#8211; a superb collection of new south american beats.<br \/>\n<strong>PET<\/strong>\u00a0[GERMANY]<br \/>\n<strong>howlin&#8217; pet<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.uvmedia.co.uk\/groenland\/downloads\/pet\/Howlin_Pet.mp3\">mp3<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>super pet (toob remix)<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.uvmedia.co.uk\/groenland\/downloads\/pet\/Super_Pet_(Toob_Remix).mp3\">mp3<\/a><br \/>\nhere&#8217;s a return to visit to groenland records (see\u00a0<strong>half cousin\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>lunz<\/strong>\u00a0from recent posts) &#8211; this time from german solo artist,\u00a0<strong>pet<\/strong>. the album &#8216;player one ready&#8217; kick starts with the excellent &#8216;no yes no&#8217; which gives a clear indication of where pet is heading. this is pop music, loud and proud. there&#8217;s some electronic sensibilities throughout, but it&#8217;d be a mistake to lump this into any electro pop or electro clash territory. the above mp3s are both remixes from the album &#8211; the first takes the &#8216;no yes no&#8217; track and\u00a0<strong>pet<\/strong>\u00a0gives it a blues \/ rock makeover (hence the &#8216;howlin&#8217; reference) and the second is a remix by\u00a0<strong>toob<\/strong>, aka rich thair &#8211; founding member of\u00a0<strong>red snapper<\/strong>. more info on\u00a0<strong>toob<\/strong>and their new album at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.t-o-o-b.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">t-o-o-b.com<\/a>.<br \/>\n<strong>VISIONARY UNDERGROUND<\/strong>\u00a0[ENGLAND]<br \/>\n<strong>urban uproar<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.visionaryunderground.com\/mp3_downloads\/urban_uproar.mp3\">mp3<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>100 vibes<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.visionaryunderground.com\/mp3_downloads\/100_vibes.mp3\">mp3<\/a><br \/>\nself-described as &#8216;nu skool breakbeat&#8217; from this &#8216;audio visual breakbeat collective&#8217;, these guys first came to my attention through their\u00a0<strong>asian dub foundation remix<\/strong>\u00a0of &#8216;1000 mirrors&#8217; &#8211; certainly for me the best remix of 2004. a four piece from london, their remarkable fusion of contemporary breaks with\u00a0a clear asian influence takes adf&#8217;s template and moves it further towards the dancefloor.\u00a0check out their web site for the full lowdown on the VU crew &#8211; YUKA<\/strong>\u00a0[JAPAN]<br \/>\n<strong>elegant bird<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.southern.net\/southern\/band\/YOSYU\/sounds\/IPC34_07_elegant_bird.mp3\">mp3<\/a><br \/>\nthis is an old skool post to celebrate the release of\u00a0<strong>yuka honda<\/strong>&#8216;s new album &#8216;eucademix&#8217;, released through john zorn&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>tzadik<\/strong>\u00a0label. the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tzadik.com\/?catalog=7712\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">album<\/a>\u00a0features a one-off return collaboration between yuko and fellow cibo matto playmate\u00a0<strong>miho hatori<\/strong>\u00a0(whose post-cibo career has included guest vocal spots on\u00a0<strong>beastie boys<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>gorillaz<\/strong>\u00a0albums, as well as the excellent brazilian-influenced album &#8216;smokey and miho&#8217;). also worth a look is the odd\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.damoon.net\/yuka\/yoshimi.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">collaboration<\/a>\u00a0between yuko and\u00a0<strong>yoshimi<\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0<strong>the boredoms<\/strong>, &#8216;flower with no colour&#8217;.
