[Letters] Medicine Voice Shares a New Film & we Showcase our Wares, All Live!

Hello Lover,
We find ourselves with news to share, on this day of all days. We find ourselves watching a new film by Medicine Voice, by Louisa Clayton, by Kevina-Jo Smith. We find ourselves ready to show our case, LIVE!, in Sydney with Pretty Gritty gritting our way. We find ourselves considering When We Never. And to this, we say, ADVANCE!

WATCH: MEDICINE VOICE The Roman / Crossing The Fourth Threshold

The Roman / Crossing The Fourth Threshold is the new single from Medicine Voice, the second track to be singled-out from the album I And Thou – the self-same record that The Wire called “a mesmerising musical vision quest”. To mark the moment, Medicine Voice offers up a film by Louisa Clayton and Kevina-Jo Smith, the visual accompaniment to the audio movement, filmed in The Blue Mountains, two hours west of Sydney. WATCH!

Medicine Voice has also written a Letter about the film, which includes these words: “I was interested in exploring a prayer and ritual as a call to action for global solidarity and prayer with Standing Rock – a beacon and a symbol, for all of Mother Earth. I am doing my bit to not lose hope. To stand gently and powerfully in solidarity with the earth, with nature, and for all beings everywhere who are vulnerable. I want my thoughts and actions to contribute positively in some way to protection and safety. To inspire Awe. Connectedness. Forgiveness. Wisdom. Surrender.”

WHEN WE NEVER? LAST THURSDAY.

When We Never is a power ambient project comprised of illustrator Christopher Cooper and Alister Hill, who also refers to himself as Lortica, and who also has a record out on Provenance. Their first work, for which we offer $50,000 for 50%, is titled Dragon’s Den and is defined as “a photo-musical study in contemporary Australian masculinity utilising sound design, documentary photography, emerging web formats and subversive linked rich media”. It premiered on last Thursday’s Ears Have Ears on FBi Radio and you can review the broadcast and the work here on the internet.

OUT NOW: APHIR No Muse [PR008]

Aphir has gifted unto us the first single from her upcoming album Twin Earth, due on Provenance in early 2017. Delivering a PERFECT slice of electronic avant-pop, No Muse follows a series of single self-confessions and the debut album ‘Holodreem’; as well as high praise from the likes of DIY Mag who dubbed Aphir as “equal parts Kate Bush and Bjork … but no-one currently comes close”.
