now and again a project comes along that has obsessive fanfolk (such as myself) salivating, sweating and generally unable to sit on their ass. zucchini drive is one of those projects – born out of a collaboration between stacs of stamina‘s marcus graap and caveman speak‘s siza, the album ‘being kurtwood’ features collaborations with a who’s who of contemporary electronica and avant hip hop – alias, b.fleishmann, styrofoam, markus ‘notwist’ archer and giardini di miro. add remix treatments from the likes of eurocrunk producer tepr, and you’ve got a solid line-up.
if you’re a regular to fat planet, you’ll need no intro to stacs of stamina (downlod tracks from ‘tivoli’ here and from the ‘mistake rewind repeat’ ep here). cavemen speak on the other hand are new to the blog – described as ‘the avant hiphop pride of belgium’, they self-released CD-Rs for three years before dropping the albums ‘shadowanimalssolos’ and ‘tell all residents’ on the shadowarchives label.
zucchini drive‘s ‘being kurtwood’ (released this week on 2ndrec) is not the first collab between marcus and siza – zucchini’s debut ‘the world after 402’ landed in 2004 and they also worked together as part of gunporn (subversiv*rec).
