From 2009-2012, the New Weird Australia Podcast featured selected interviews and in-studio recordings from my FBi radio show, as well as live performances from events, video interviews and more.
Episode 27 looks at modular synthesis, with live set from Nadir – a collaboration between Sydney artist Alex White and Melbourne’s Ben Byrne – and Pia Van Gelder, co-director of the upcoming Moduluxxx Festival, described as something between “a museum, a LAN party and a petting zoo”.
Pia discusses the ideas and activities behind modular synthesis in more detail – and in particular, why it has undergone something of a renaissance in recent times, and we hear a live, 20 minute set from Nadir – acting as a warm-up for their Moduluxxx experience.
The interview and live set was originally broadcast on 26th April 2012.
