i’ve been gorging on dubstep for the last year or so, but have been reluctant to post much as it’s essentially been a uk-based genre. this, however, is changing – just check this month’s xlr8r dubstep column for a round-up of global dubstep projects.
grimelock (kaliba and marsellus wallace) are based in brussels, belgium and began producing as a drum’n’bass crew (crazy crew) in 1998. two more names changes and one inspiring plasticman set later and their sound shifts into grime, garage and dubstep territory. it seems that grimelock are part of a healthy and growing scene in belgium, as this post on dubbed up attests.
there’s an comprehensive range of audio available at grimelock.com – four of their own mixes, many full-length mp3s and a selection of guest mixes from their radio show (including DMZ, plasticman, mark one, logan sama, skream and more). they’ve also curated a small selection of grime & dubstep videos that they’ve located on youtube, and it features clips from more fire crew, wiley, kode9 and crazy titch.
