sydney happenings this weekend:
saturday (2 dec), talvin singh is in sydney for his first solo appearance; returning for the first time since supporting massive attack twelve years ago – a long overdue appearance. i’ll be dj-ing in support from 9pm – also on the bill percussion junction, groovelands sound system (w. bobby singh and ben walsh) and bentley. it’s the first gig at the inner west’s new venue, the factory (105 victoria road, enmore) – run by the same crew that cover the enmore, metro and formerly @newtown. more info here.

sunday 3rd, uber lingua continues its summer residency at the abercrombie hotel in ultimo with gypsy dub sound system (live) plus djs james locksmith, michael correa (man about town) and residents mashy p & myself. headliners gypsy dub sound system pull off the remarkable feat of blending two seemingly opposed genres from jamaica and the balkans – giving us ǃÚgypsy dubǃÙ. the sound system is helmed by award-winning musician trevor brown of waiting for guinness fame, who has previously worked with ju ju space jazz, morganics, meta bass n breath and many more. for sundayǃÙs gig, the gypsy dub sound system will be playing an extended set with additional guest members for the global traditional and jazz scenes. more info at uberlingua.com.
