mp3: BELLES WILL RING mad love
i love synchronicity. yesterday, i overheard someone say how good the new belles will ring single was. note to self: “must check that out”. and then, a couple of hours later, the architecture label mailed us with a preview download. sometimes, things do fall neatly into your lap.
regular visitors will of course understand that alt.rock & indie are not fat planet staples. but i am a sucker for anything oddly psychedelic, and within this 2006 reworking of old school sensibilities, the sounds of two brians – wilson and jonestown massacre – drift to mind. nothing new perhaps, but still much to love.
belles will ring hail from the blue mountains, one of australia’s most beautiful locations – given such an inspiring backdrop, it’s hardly surprising that the results are so glorious. the single launches at sydney’s spectrum on 10th november and the debut album, ‘mood patterns’, drops early next year. more info at architecturelabel.com.
just as an aside, i wonder if it also the same synchronicity that links the title of this track back to the similar psych-sounds of lush‘s debut single from 1990? (gazes at shoes in wonder…)
